GET STRONGER, AGE BETTER

Muscle Strength is one of the keys to healthy ageing.
We know that we lose up to 25% of muscle strength by the time we are 70.
This is a natural part of ageing called Sarcopenia, however research has shown there are things we can do to avoid or even reverse the decline.

LEARN HOW TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

Muscles play a role in movement, balance and posture. That’s why we become more prone to falls and fractures as we age. Muscle loss as we age is associated with impaired physical function and loss of independence.

With the right diet and exercise, especially Strength Training getting older doesn’t mean getting weaker.
At TAL we know that Muscle work is the place to start and that we can all be strong no matter our age.

"Our Bushey Strength Studio was built with this in mind and has the relevant equipment and physio led programmes to build strength”.

USE IT OR LOSE IT

- The key to maintaining strength is to undertake a programme of resistance training. Add weights to your workouts, improving muscle mass and strength.
- We show you the importance of diet and especially Protein intake as you age, this helps muscles grow after exercise. Every muscle in your body is made up of protein.
- The right aerobic exercise is key to keeping your muscles healthy and your heart strong. Walking, swimming, cycling and even gardening are lower impact ways of keeping you active.

It is always good to talk to your GP before embarking on any new regime of diet or exercise.
